Portfolio Manager, Buy-and-Maintain – Global Fixed Income

This is a great job for a portfolio manager to join our Buy-and-Maintain Credit team. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing bespoke credit mandates as well as contributing to the team’s investment process.

A bit about the job:

We are a global asset manager that combines our insurance heritage, investment capabilities and sustainability expertise to deliver wealth and retirement outcomes that matter most to investors.

As the asset management business of one of the UK’s largest insurers, fixed income is in our DNA. Our experience spans across fixed income, from developed to emerging markets, investment grade to high yield and liquidity strategies. In addition to pooled strategies, we offer bespoke solutions to cater to individual client needs.  Our insurance heritage makes us a natural partner for clients looking for consistent returns and enhanced capital preservation through market cycles.

This role is based in London, within our Buy-and-Maintain Credit team.

You will be the lead portfolio manager on buy-and-maintain credit mandates, as well as working on other mandates managed by the team as secondary portfolio manager, focused on delivering the client’s target outcomes. You will also be expected to help drive improvements in our buy-and maintain investment process and discuss investment ideas.

You will work collaboratively with other portfolio managers, credit and ESG research analysts, the Investment Solutions team, and the dealing desks.

Skills and experience we’re looking for:

  • Previous portfolio management experience, preferably within Buy-and-Maintain Credit or Investment Grade portfolios.

  • Experience of managing portfolios for insurance clients would be a benefit.

  • CFA Level III or similar professional qualification.

  • Energetic and forward thinking with high ethical standards and truly professional approach.

What you’ll get for this role:

  • Generous pension scheme - Aviva will contribute up to 14%, depending on what you put in

  • Eligibility for annual performance bonus

  • Family friendly parental and carer’s leave

  • Generous holiday entitlement plus bank holidays with the option to buy/sell up to 5 additional days

  • Up to 40% discount for Aviva products

  • Brilliant flexible benefits including electric cars

  • Aviva Matching Share Plan and Save As You Earn scheme

  • 21 volunteering hours per year

In this role, you will be ‘Certified’ under the Financial Conduct Authority / Prudential Regulation Authority’s Senior Managers and Certification Regime (SMCR). This means that we’ll need to complete some regulatory background checks on you before you take up your role and we’ll need to ask you some questions on an annual basis to make sure you remain ‘fit and proper’ and competent to carry out your role. We’ll provide training on what holding a SMCR role means when you join us and annually thereafter.
