Reporting in the area of Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG), non-financial reporting (NFR) and climate continues to grow and gain momentum and is also an area of significant upcoming mandatory reporting requirements.

This is an exciting opportunity to join a team within the Group Financial Controller area, that will be at the forefront of an area of growing importance in corporate reporting.

A bit about the job:

The Group External Reporting Team (part of the Group Financial Controller area) is principally responsible for meeting the regulatory and statutory reporting requirements for Aviva Plc Group, associated with annual reporting, interim half year and quarterly business performance.

The team provides results messaging and insights for external purposes, for Plc Audit Committee and Board and other relevant internal committees. GER comprises the following sub-teams: Plc Reporting, Financial Consolidation, Climate & NFR Centre of Excellence (CoE) & AGC Reporting and Regulatory Reporting.

Aviva has been promoting sustainability and leading on climate action and reporting.

We have reported on climate change in our Annual Report and

Accounts since 2004 and we have published a climate disclosure in accordance with the Taskforce on Climate-related Financial Disclosures (TCFD) since 2016. Externally, Aviva’s climate-related disclosures have received corporate reporting awards.

This role sits within the Climate & NFR CoE and is primarily responsible for supporting the production and delivery of both climate and non-financial reporting.

Following successful set up of the CoE since 2022, the team is looking to evolve the established processes and controls to ensure readiness for future mandatory reporting requirements.

This role will comprise working on the design and implementation to enable compliance with ESG-related current or upcoming standards and regulations.

This role will be responsible for the understanding how the changing regulations will impact the report production process and implement the necessary changes into the business-as-usual reporting process. In addition, this role will comprise supporting the Senior Managers in the CoE to deliver internal and external reporting through collation, challenge and publish of climate and non-financial reporting metrics.

The post holder will work proactively and develop collaborative, positive relationships with stakeholders across the Group. The post holder will be responsible for the day-to-day decision making for processes within remit to ensure all reporting milestones are met and key controls operated effectively. This role will work flexibly across non-financial reporting and climate reporting supporting critical delivery.
